PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
While there are standard treatment paradigms for patients with multiple myeloma, the majority of patients eventually relapse. A number of new agents, including the immunomodulatory agents thalidomide and lenalidomide, and the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib, have demonstrated impressive response rates in combination with established regimens and offer new hope for patients. The new clinical data emerging include the use of these agents in front-line and relapsed settings, in a range of combination regimens, and in high-risk patients (including those with renal dysfunction, chromosomal deletions, etc.). However, these new efficacy data, in addition to the associated safety results, can be overwhelming and confusing to busy physicians.
The CME Case Continuum is a dynamic, interactive, Web-based learning program in which participants are able to review case studies written by experts in the field of multiple myeloma. In order to receive CME credits, you may review up to 6 case studies. In addition to reviewing case studies, participants may create and submit their own case study for review by the faculty. CME credits will be given for submission of each case. To participate in any part of the case-based learning program, you must register and be “signed in.”
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
- Identify the comprehensive parameters involved in treating patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma
- Evaluate challenging case studies that will engage and enhance learnings and practice behavior
- Discuss potentially new treatments in ways they may not have conceived previously
- Recognize new pathologies through online interaction with colleagues
